PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Investment Counselor's responsibilities involve working independently on implementing Investor Center business plan initiatives focused on increasing incremental sales. The objective is to attract and retain assets and clients by proactively targeting key customers/prospect segments with products and services best suited for a face-to-face environment.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Proactively develops sales leads to incrementally (influence new assets that come to TRP as a result of our local presence) grow sales for the branch/ firm; follows up on internal referrals; proactively seeking external referral business; makes call-outs to unconverted literature inquiries; completes local solicitations including mailings and unsolicited call outs to target populations; participates in local networking opportunities and trade shows when appropriate; conducts seminars and presentations for clients and prospects
Meets with clients face-to-face, representing the face of TRP in our local markets, and over the phone using consultative sales approach supporting a client centric culture in the pursuit of new assets to the firm; proactively seeks to uncover client needs and present T. Rowe Price products and services during a guidance discussion; asks questions to help client understand options and help guide the customer to the best solution.
Ensures all transactions and administrative processes are accomplished for each lead, sale, and service activity through World Class Service influencing the retention of assets.
Provides full service advice; evaluates client needs and match appropriate service based on client needs; prepares appropriate recommendations and documentation; meets with client face to face to provide full-service advice including asset allocation and retirement income stream strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred
Bachelor's degree with 2 years of related experience
Face to face client related experience and or consultative sales experience
Required
High School diploma or equivalent and 3 years related work experience, or college degree
Series 7 and 63 licenses
Series 65 or 66 (must obtain within 6 months date of hire)
Life and Heath (must obtain within 6 months of date of hire) Proprietary Advisory
Planning (must obtain within 18 months of date of hire)
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
Demonstrated excellent people savvy skills
Demonstrated ability to understand an individual's stated and unstated needs and respond appropriately to those needs
Uses differing questioning techniques to validate important information
Demonstrated strong analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to break down complex problems into parts and offer solutions. Demonstrates the ability to translate complex information and situations into a clear and simple message
Strong consultative sales expertise and acts as a trusted advisor
Rebounds quickly from difficult situations/ resilient
Strong drive for results. Demonstrated ability to take the initiative in applying creative strategies to increase incremental sales. Demonstrated ability to work independently
Comfortable interacting with clients in a face to face environment
